Inivte Plan - How can I invite people to Church?
Joining the 21 Days of Hope
Pastor Ryan Brooks
Convincing myself to exercise? Yes, I can do that. Signing up for a gym membership? That’s a little tougher, but I can do that. Showing up with a plan to workout 4-5 days a week? Nope, I get lost every single time.
A few years ago, you could have easily found me in a gym bouncing around from machine to conversation to class, all while getting very little results and wasting so much time. I knew that for me to focus, I needed a plan, and specifically, a plan I could hold on to.
Accepting that I needed an accessible plan to follow, I gave up bouncing around a gym and committed to regimented nutrition and fitness programs like Peloton and Eager2Motivate (E2M). Making this switch actually helped me achieve the results I was looking for. These programs removed the wandering around aimlessly and hopelessly in a gym and replaced it with a game plan for me each and every day. All I had to do is show up, commit to following the directions, and do it all again the next day.
As believers, many of us know we are called to live on Christ’s mission by sharing our faith with others. I believe that even many of us want to. However, instead of moving boldly towards others with the gospel, we are often bouncing around from church to work to close friends and family members unsure of where to start and what to say. And before we can get up the courage to try, our fears of rejection and doing it just right silence our voices.
If this is you, I want to invite you to participate in “21 Days of HOPE.”
What is 21 Days of HOPE?
“21 Days of HOPE” is a gospel-sharing tool that will provide you with an accessible plan for how to invite people to church and talk to them about Jesus that starts on March 31st. Each day you will receive an email or text message that will help you either reflect on your hope in Jesus or take a step to share that hope with others. Some steps will involve posting something on social media, texting someone in need of hope, or sharing your faith journey with someone. No matter the step, my prayer is that this 21-day gospel-sharing plan will bring hope to you and hope through you.
This is a church-wide effort of Vertical Church, and I’m praying that 100 people from our church will participate in bringing hope to those who need Christ. Here are two reasons I would encourage you to join:
EASTER IS COMING! At Vertical Church, we refer to Easter as Resurrection Sunday as it reminds us of the focal point of our celebration–Christ’s resurrection. As you may know, Easter is one of the most attended Sundays of the year. People far from God or who haven’t been to church in a while are more open to attending church. “21 Days of HOPE” will help us to be good stewards of this window of opportunity as it helps us to take the guesswork out of the who, what, when, and how of inviting people to church and to receive the hope Christ gives us through His resurrection.
WE ARE AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST (2 Cor. 5:20). God’s plan is to make His appeal to those who are far from Him through you. You are His plan for reconciling others back to Him. Matthew 9:37-38, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” We are God’s plan for reaching the world, and there is no plan B. “21 Days of Hope” will give you the tools you need to be a faithful laborer in God’s harvest, not just for the 21 days leading up to Resurrection Sunday but for every day after.
Your Next Steps
1. Pray. Over the next few days, pray that God would send out laborers to His plentiful harvest field so that others may experience the hope you’ve found.
2. Respond. Be an answer to your own prayer and respond to Jesus’ desire for laborers into His harvest field.
3. Sign Up. Let 21 Days of Hope be your plan for intentionally engaging with others for the sake of the gospel as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday by signing up for 21 Days of Hope. You will receive your first email or text message on March 31st. Here the link to sign up: 21 Days of Hope
My prayer is that 21-Days of Hope will take out the guess work for how to invite other to know God deeply and follow God fully. Be bold church, prayerful in your steps, responding to the daily invitations to bring hope to others and trusting God will the outcome. Sharing is our responsibility, salvation is His.
